Conscious Voice™
Where your physical instrument meets your truest frequency
What Is Conscious Voice™?
The voice is one of the most honest expressions we have.
Long before we choose our words, our voice reveals how we are breathing, where we are holding tension, how we are relating to ourselves, and how present we are in this moment.
Conscious Voice™ is an immersive group and one-to-one practice that explores the relationship between awareness, body and sound. It is not singing tuition, performance coaching or traditional voice work. It is an invitation to discover the voice that exists beneath performance, habit and expectation - the voice that emerges when there is nothing to prove.
Drawing on sixteen years as a musical director, conductor and composer in professional theatre, alongside extensive study in meditation, breathwork, somatic practices and Eastern contemplative traditions, I have developed a practice that uses voice as a pathway into deeper awareness.
Rather than asking you to sound a particular way, we become curious about what happens when sound is allowed to emerge naturally.
What changes when your attention moves behind your body? Into the floor? Above your head? Into the space around you? Into another person? Into silence? As awareness shifts, the voice changes. You begin to experience your voice not simply as something produced by the vocal folds, but as something that resonates through your whole body, your relationship with the space around you, a pathway from your consciousness to existence and your own moment-to-moment awareness.
This is not about finding your "best" voice. It is about discovering your most authentic one.
The Practice
Each session is an exploration of attention, resonance and expression.
Through breath, movement, stillness, vocal exploration and guided awareness, we create the conditions for authentic sound to emerge rather than be manufactured.
You may find yourself exploring:
the voice resonating in every direction through 360° space
vibration throughout the body rather than only in the throat
movement as a way of discovering new vocal possibilities
the relationship between sound, silence and listening
different qualities, textures and intentions within the voice
spontaneous sound that arises without performance or judgement
Rather than learning techniques to "improve" your voice, you develop a richer relationship with it. Your voice becomes something you inhabit and experience rather than control. This is where the raw, electric, real voice of you lies.
Beyond The Individual
Voice is inherently relational.
The moment we make a sound, it enters a shared space. It interacts with the acoustics and energy of the room, the people around us and the silence that holds it. Our voice is never separate from the environment it inhabits.
While Conscious Voice™ can be experienced one-to-one, it takes on another dimension in groups.
What happens when you remain deeply connected to yourself while truly listening to another? Can you allow your voice to respond rather than perform? Can you stay authentic while being witnessed?
As individuals begin to let go of self-consciousness, something remarkable can happen. The room becomes less like a collection of separate voices and more like a living conversation of breath, sound, silence and attention. No one is leading or trying to sound a certain way and no one is trying to “get it right”. Instead, each person is invited to listen as deeply as they sound. To notice how their voice changes as another person's voice enters the space. To discover what emerges when expression is no longer planned, but allowed.
It is here that many people encounter a voice they have never heard before. A voice which is not rehearsed or polite, one which isn’t performed but far more alive. A voice that is raw, electric and thrilling. Sometimes gritty. Sometimes delicate. Sometimes wild. Sometimes unexpectedly tender. A voice shaped not by performance or perfection, but by presence.
These moments can be profoundly moving, not because everyone sounds the same, but because every voice is free to sound uniquely itself. The result is not uniformity, but relationship - a shared experience where difference is welcomed, listening becomes creative, and authentic expression is amplified by the presence of others.
What You May Experience
No two sessions are the same.
Some people discover a voice that feels fuller, freer and more expressive than they realised was possible. Others notice how much unnecessary effort they have been carrying in the jaw, throat, chest or breath.
Many describe a heightened awareness of vibration throughout the body, a greater sense of connection with the surrounding space, and moments where sound feels less like something they are creating and more like something they are allowing.
As the nervous system settles, people often report feeling calmer, clearer and more grounded. For some, the practice opens new forms of creativity. For others, it becomes a way of reconnecting with emotions or parts of themselves that have been difficult to express through words alone such as long-held grief, stress, shame or guilt.
The aim is not to achieve a particular state or produce a particular sound. It is to cultivate the awareness from which authentic expression can naturally emerge.
Who It’s For
This work is for anyone who has ever felt disconnected from their own voice.
Perhaps you've spent years adapting to other people's expectations, speaking from habit rather than authenticity, never really listening or experiencing your own sound beyond the surface of the words you speak, or feeling that your voice doesn't fully reflect who you are.
You do not need to be a singer and you do not need any musical experience. You simply need curiosity.
Conscious Voice™ is for people who want to explore the relationship between body, awareness and expression; for creatives looking to deepen their artistic practice; for professionals who want to communicate with greater authenticity; and for anyone interested in discovering what becomes possible when there is nothing to perform.
Beneath every practiced voice is a true voice. An unperformed voice. One that isn't trying to impress and that isn't trying to “get it right”.
One that is already yours.
